  I was born in New Mexico and knew from an early age that I wanted to open a restaurant and share my love for cooking with others. I worked closely with a chef from Santa Fe, New Mexico before opening the doors to Mateo's on August 8, 2003.
  A lot of hard work and determination was put into creating an authentic atmosphere and it is my pleasure to share this distinctive cuisine with those who have not had the opportunity of visiting New Mexico.
